In the article, "Should Everyone Get a Trophy?" by Lauren Tarshis, she talked about how kids get a trophy just for showing up to team practices. Our school system decided more than a decade ago to pass kids on to the next grade regardless of how successful they were on their report card.
Do you think kids should fail?

Should Kids be Held Back

I think kids should be held back. If they go through school without learning what they are supposed to, they would have a horrible job like working at McDonalds for an eternity. No one would fail on purpose. Lastly, it is an important lesson about life, that you need to try.

Someone who had a crappy job would be miserable. They wouldn’t be able to provide for their family. They would not make very much money. They would probably be poor if they couldn’t hold on to job.

Would any kids fail on purpose? Some people say that you could just try to get held back because they have friends in younger grade but I do not believe that. They would probably have friends that are their age as well, plus who wants to learn something more than once.

A person who keeps on getting passed will not learn what life is really like. They will think life is easy and will think you don’t have to know anything to have a good life.

Now that you know why I think this, I hope you support me in what I just wrote and think what I think. The ideas about jobs and life lessons should convince someone that kids should be held back.
